Title   Sitting Bull and Buffalo Bill
Call Number   NS-196
Summary   William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Hunkpapa Sioux Chief Sitting Bull pose for a full-length studio portrait. Sitting Bull wears a long, feather headdress and a buckskin shirt. Cody wears a wide-brimmed, Stetson hat, a shirt embroidered with flowers and thigh boots. The two men hold the end of one rifle propped on its end in front of them. Cody holds his right hand up pointing at something they are both looking toward. A landscape scene is painted on the backdrop behind the two men. Sitting Bull appeared in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in 1885 and was well received by crowds in Canada. Image is a copy of original photograph by W. Notman in Montreal in 1885 and later copyrighted by D.F. Barry.
