| Summary |
View of a saloon backroom used for gaming in Leadville,
Colorado, shows men gambling on either side of a center aisle. Men
in suits and hats stand at a roulette table with stacks of poker chips;
others sit at gaming tables with playing cards and poker chips. Croupiers
and dealers wear white shirts, vest and ties; a saloonkeeper carries
a tray of glasses. Thr room is papered with a floral wallpaper on
the ceiling and a border above the wainscot and along the top of the
wall. Framed pictures and a clock hang on the walls. A cast iron stove
sits in the room, with a long pipe crossing the room. Bright lights
hang from the ceiling, and spittoons are on the floor next to the
tables. A picket fence separates the back of the room, where a group
of men sit at a table, from the main room. |
