The "Parks Album," acquired by the Western History Department in the 1930's, documents buildings and facilities in the Denver City & Mountain Parks network. The album contains 755 images on 95 pages, taken in Denver and the surrounding area. The pictures show playgrounds, tennis courts, filling stations, asphalt plants, bridges, county farms, fire stations, dams, restrooms, golf courses, municipal buildings, sewage treatment plants, police departments, highway department garages, zoos, campground cooking shelters, outdoor theaters, and other park structures. With the images available online, the actual album now rests in a temperature / humidity controlled vault at The Denver Public Library, its fragile pages safe from wear and tear. To search the database for images in this album, use the term "WHC album 111" and select "Series Browse" from the drop-down menu. You can also search the album using your own keywords and the words "Parks Album." [Call numbers X-20083 to X-20781] |
