FAQs about ordering copies and using materials 1. Can I purchase copies of photographs from your collection? Yes. You can purchase high-resolution photographic prints of the images that you see on our website. See our photo Sales section for prices and how to order. 2. Can I download images from your site? No. Images must be purchased through the Photo Sales Department. 3. Do you make copies from originals or digital files? As part of our preservation program, all of our prints are created from high-resolution digital files. 4. What is a sepia print? A two-toned print that has a warm brown cast. 5. What size digital file can I order? We offer 300 dpi digital files in TIFF format. Requests for other digital files must be negotiated with our Photo Sales staff. 6. Will you digitally "clean up” an image? The Denver Public Library has made an historically accurate copy of the photographs in our collection. Many of the items have tears, cracks, watermarks and other blemishes. We do not digitally alter any of the items. 7. How long does it take to have a copy made? We process orders in 10 – 14 working days. We offer Rush Service on both digital and print orders as our schedule allows. The charge is 100% of the processing fee. Rush orders are processed in 2-3 business days. 8. Can you e-mail an image to me? Although we are investigating ways to efficiently e-mail digital files to customers, the Denver Public Library currently does not offer this service. We can transfer files via ftp. In order to have your file transferred via ftp you will need an IP address, a user ID and a password. 9. What kind of photo paper do you use? Prints from 5” x 7” to 12” x 18” are printed on Fuji resin coated paper. Customers may choose a glossy or matte finish. Prints larger than 12” x 18” are printed on Epson Premium Luster (a semi-gloss) or double weight matte paper. 10. What type of printer do you use? Prints up to 12” x 18” are made on a Fuji Pictography 4000 high-resolution printer. Prints larger than 12” x 18” are made on an Epson 9500 InkJet printer. 11. Can I use an image for my school project, classroom, personal use? Yes, you can purchase images from our photo sales department. 12. May I use an image for a commercial use? Yes. For more information about commercial use and service fees, please see the Price List. 13. Can I use an image from your website on my own website? You are welcome to link to our website. (Please use this url: http://photoswest.org.org). If you want to use individual pictures from our website on your own site, you will need to obtain permission from the Denver Public Library. Commercial use of images is subject to commercial service fees. We do require that all images be credited to the Denver Public Library, Western History Collection. For information about Commercial Service Fees for Internet use, see the Price List. 14. How can I get enlargements of photo details? To order enlargements of a specific part of an image, you can fax, mail, or email us the image with your crop marks drawn on it.
