520A line of about twenty skiers climbs up a slope. The men are members of the Tenth Mountain Division, Mountain Training Group during winter training exercise designed to test the men's readiness for winter conditions in the mountains by having them ski from Leadville to Aspen, Colorado. According to the photographer's caption, this was probably taken on the morning of the second day near Mount Champion.

520Arrow, Colorado (formerly Arrowhead) and Denver, Northwestern and Pacific Railway (later Denver and Salt Lake) passenger train; Engine number One would arrive at station or terminus of track at this time and then Number two (or "Arrow Turn") would return to Denver; standard gauge tracks and switches with town behind depot; group of women standing below train on track dropping to left, four per cent grade to Irving's where descent was cut to two per cent; dining room advertising dinners for .50 cents; other buildings in town include restaurant, hotel, Elk Saloon and Cottage Bar; billboard sign on building's wall for Ringling Brothers Circus appearing in July in Denver; note gasoline streetlight at top of dirt street, center; barn beyond streetlight owned by Billy Wood, next to barn is Community House built by locals for "wholesome family life entertainment."
